2016 Targets.

Every year I set myself some targets as a little challenge. Last year one of my goals ended up being all consuming so this year I'm going to set myself targets that hopefully won't end up taking over my fishing. Really this year I just want to focus on enjoying catching a few fish. That being said I do have a few things in mind and more might get added as the year progresses.

  1. "The Fishy Dozen" : Catch twelve new species in the UK in 2016.
My summer trip to Cornwall for a few days species hunting from the shore and also aboard the charter boat "Bite Adventures" has sadly been cancelled and as this is where I had the best chance of catching new UK species I've decided to change this to twelve species from anywhere. I've caught thirteen new species so far. Click here for more details.

  2. "24" : Catch twenty four species from Scottish saltwater in twenty four hours.
I dont think I'll be attempting this now. Perhaps a project for 2017?

  3. "For the record" : Catch fish that are bigger than current Scottish/UK records.
I'm not a specimen hunter but I think for some species this is quite achievable.
So far I've caught a few fish that broke records. Click here to see what they were.

  4. Catch a barbel from the River Clyde.
I've not tried yet but they are in there! I said I'd try this last year but just never got around to it. Looking like another target that will be carried over into 2017.

  5. Travel to St Mullins in Ireland and catch a shad from the River Barrow in May.
I made it over with my mate Martin and we had a great time catching shad. Click here for details.
